Volcom was started in 1991 by Tucker Hall and Richard Woolcott and has its base in Costa Mesa, California USA. It was originally known as Stone Boardwear Inc and in 2005 the name was changed to Volcom Inc. Volcom produces high quality goods for the surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding markets and is one of the most popular clothing labels in the board sports industry. The Volcom "Stone" logo was the creation of Thom McElroy one of the co-founders of Volcom. Volcom sponsors both professional and amateur surfers, skateboarders and snowboarders including Skateboarders Geoff Rowley and Rune Glifberg, surfer Bruce Irons and snowboarders Terje Haakonsen and Shaun White.
