4 exciting Bali activities tourists should try

If you are active person looking for new and exciting things to do on your holiday, there are no shortage of Bali activities on offer.
As one of the most famous surf islands in the world, why not start with a surf lesson. There are numerous surf schools in Bali offering group and private lessons that usually last for about two hours per session.
The lesson will usually include transport, surfboard and rash vest, so you’ll need your boardshorts and sunscreen.
Whilst there are many informal people offering lessons and surfboard rental on the beach we recommend going with a reputable surf school (like Stoked Surf Bali) whose instructors will be better trained and surf knowledge should get you to the best places at the best times for learning.
Another of the leading Bali activities is River Rafting. It’s a fun day out with three main rivers offering different routes and levels of rapids so there will always be a suitable option for most ages and fitness levels.
There are several companies offering fully inclusive trips with hotel pick up and drop off, the rafting trip and lunch. Rafting is not only a lot of fun but it gets you out into nature to see some of the best rainforest and gorges that Bali has to offer.
The north coast of Bali is home to some spectacular colourful reefs with plenty of tropical fish and other interesting sea life. Why not try snorkelling or perhaps even SCUBA diving?
This coastline is not exposed to the open Indian ocean swells, so often has good, safe conditions for even the “not so strong” swimmer. Some of the popular areas for diving/snorkelling on the north coast are Amed, Tulamben, Lovina and Menjangan. As another of the Bali activities options, you could make a day trip of this or perhaps even plan a night away.
For those looking for Bali activities away from the water, there are a number of hikes/walks in the cooler inland and hill areas.
You can choose between guided and non guided (although some locations like Mt Batur require you to have a guide, not so much because you need one to find the way but it provides local employment) and from a variety of walks between a couple of hours though to overnight hikes to the top of Bali’s biggest mountain, Mt Agung.
