An Australian review of the top 3 resorts in Bali

Bali is home to some of the most luxurious, decadent and spectacular resorts anywhere in the world. From beachside, to clifftop, mountainside and jungle locations, Bali has it all for those seeking the very best in style, service, opulence and some would say, extravagance

Most of the big name luxury hotel operators have a presence in Bali. The Aman Group, Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, Bvlgari, Anantara, Mulia, Kempinski, Intercontinental, Hyatt, Hilton, Sheraton and Conrad, just to name a few.

With so many noteworthy options our Bali resorts review chooses three of Bali’s finest, each from a different Bali location and with its own unique setting.

Number 1 on our Bali resorts review is Amankila located on the east coast of Bali near Candi Dasa

Number 1 on our Bali resorts review is Amankila located on the east coast of Bali near Candi Dasa. With Mount Agung providing a dramatic backdrop for Amankila (peaceful hill) it is a secluded seaside resort overlooking the Lombok Strait. Amankila is managed by Aman, one of the world’s most deluxe hotel brands.

There are 34 individual thatched roof suites offering incredible views from their hillside locations. They are all connected to the resort’s facilities by raised walkways. Guests can relax around the signature three-tiered pool or at the beach club on Amankila’s beach, with its black sands and clear turquoise waters.

Four Seasons Resort Sayan has been created as a hillside haven where hotel and nature unite

Need we say more for our Number 2 selection on our Bali resorts review than it was Voted Number 1 hotel in the world by Travel and Leisure in 2018?

Need we say more for our Number 2 selection on our Bali resorts review than it was Voted Number 1 hotel in the world by Travel and Leisure in 2018?

Four Seasons Resort Sayan has been created as a hillside haven where hotel and nature unite. It is just a ten-minute drive from Ubud with its stylish boutiques, artisans and delicious selection of eateries. Four Seasons Sayan is an inspiring base from which to explore Bali’s cultural heart or to retreat into nature’s embrace.

Guests arrive via a dramatic bridge, beneath which the Ayung River flows along a lush jungle valley. The resort features a gravity-defying rooftop lotus pond cascading down the hill to a two-tiered swimming pool which is cantilevered over the river. With just 42 luxurious villas and 18 suites, a stay here is highly recommended.

Third but not least on our Bali resorts review is the Bulgari Resort

Third but not least on our Bali resorts review is the Bulgari Resort, managed by the prestigious Italian Bulgari company
The resort sits on top of a 150 m (450 ft) high, cliff on the southern tip of Bali overlooking the Indian ocean. Accessed by an inclined elevator, there is a pristine private beach with a beach club at the bottom of the cliffs. Bulgari offers 59 individual villas which all include an open-air pavilion, terrace and private plunge pool. When booking, be sure to ask for a villa on the first row as they have the most spectacular ocean views.
