Top Bali Attractions
3 top Bali attractions or activities to try
what to do in bali
In selecting the top Bali attractions, there are numerous contenders however these are three things we think that you should definitely do and see on your Bali holiday.
Number one top Bali attraction is watch a sunset at Single Fin bar overlooking the cliffs and surf at Uluwatu.
Uluwatu is located on the south western tip of Bali. This area is also known as the bukit. Uluwatu is famous for its world class surf running along the reef at the bottom of the cliffs and accessed by a small entrance from the Uluwatu cave. We recommend you go down the steps to the cave and if low tide, you can find a small beach just to the left of the cave (not accessible at high tide). There are many warungs located on the cliff that will also provide you a great view and sunset experience, however if you want to combine your visit with one of Bali’s most popular and vibrant beach club bars, then our suggestion is Single Fin. You’ll find the entrance to single fin on your right side at the top of the steps.
Our second activity on the list of top Bali attractions is a walk up Mt Batur. Mt Batur is a volcano located at the bottom of the caldera at Kintamani. It provides spectacular views over the nearby lake, the caldera and of nearby Mt Agung, Bali’s biggest and most sacred mountain.
To undertake this walk, you need at least a moderate level of fitness. Depending on where you start, the walk can take between 45 minutes each way through to 1.5 hours each way. The final 45 minutes is up a fairly steep path of loose volcanic rock, so take a good pair of shoes.
Most people do the walk early morning so they are up the top of the Mountain by sunrise and whilst this is certainly one good option, we think that it’s just as good after sunrise. Just be wary that its more common for cloud and rain to develop by the middle of the day.
Finally on our list of top Bali attractions is to go snorkelling in Amed.
Amed is a dive town on the north east coast of Bali, about 2.5 hours drive from Kuta. A day trip is easy enough however if wanting an overnight trip, there is plenty of affordable accommodation and restaurants in the area. For those with more time you could do a dive course but if you just want to see some colourful tropical fish and unspoilt reef, then there are plenty of snorkelling options just off the local beaches. It easy and cheap to hire a mask and fins.
